RapidProtect: machine protection doors for demanding applications
Machine protection doors provide optimum protection for people and machines without impairing production cycles. Compliance with safety standards and individual adaptation options are key factors here.
Regardless of whether they are used in the automotive industry or other industrial areas, automated production processes must fulfil demanding requirements. Here even the slightest fault can lead to downtime and endangerment of employees. Complying with safety requirements is correspondingly important. Machine protection doors provide effective protection against hazards. They enable fast transitions between full isolation of a production operation and unrestricted access to the workpiece and the machine. They protect employees against flying sparks, weld splatter and much more.
One of the leading manufacturers of machine protection doors is Albany Door Systems. This company invented high-speed doors, which are very popular in production environments due to their short opening and closing times, and has been successfully developing machine protection doors for more than 15 years.
Albany Door Systems offers three high-speed door models suitable for use as machine protection doors: RapidProtect™ 2000, RapidProtect 300, and the laser protectin door RapidRoll® 3000. All three models feature high reliability, low downtime, a small footprint, simple operation and easy maintenance access. They boast high operating cycle counts, top-class safety functions and advanced control systems. They can also be opened and closed several hundred times per hour. All three door models are additionally equipped with a contactless pre-running safety photocell for personal protection, a safety feature developed by Albany Door Systems.
These models address a wide variety of requirements on production processes. The RapidProtect 300, which features slim but sturdy aluminium side columns, has a flexible curtain and excels in easy installation, service and maintenance. The RapidProtect™ 2000 has a rigid curtain consisting of aluminium slats, which makes this door very robust and impact resistant. The RapidRoll® 3000 is particularly suitable for laser protection because the shape of the double-wall slats provides a labyrinth overlap at the joints. This reliably prevents the laser beam from passing through the curtain. These models conform to the new standards EN ISO 13849-1 (PL d / Cat. 3 and PL e / Cat. 4) and EN 62061 (SIL 3), and their dimensions can be adapted to the customer's requirements.
